High-speed Manufacturing Laboratory

High-Speed Manufacturing Laboratory (HSML)

About HSML

Welcome to the homepage of Professor Nassiri's research group in the Department of Integrated Systems Engineering (ISE) at the Ohio State University. At HSML, the overarching goal of our research is to fundamentally understand the behavior of materials subjected to large plastic deformation during high-speed manufacturing, in particular, high-velocity impact joining and forming processes. To achieve this goal, we use a combination of cutting-edge multi-scale multi-physics numerical simulations, mechanical testing, and advanced materials characterization.

Other HSML research interests include designing novel joining and forming methods, smart manufacturing, process optimization, damage and failure analysis, process simulations, dynamic behavior of materials, and mathematical modeling.
